Support the Midland Community Orchestra
Musicians interested in joining the orchestra as a member may do so by contacting Artistic Director/Conductor Gina Provenzano.Students who fulfill a need may also be accepted by the discretion of the Artistic Director. An annual screening for new members occurs in August before the season starts. Musicians may also join during the concert season. Rehearsals begin in September and take place Monday nights 7:30-9:45 PM at Midland High School.
New Musician ScreeningMembers must have a minimum advanced high school level proficiency with their instrument. All new players will be screened by the conductor and possibly representatives of the MCO Board or section leaders, the conductor will determine screening requirements based on the needs of the orchestra. Most qualifying adult string players who wish to join may find seats in the orchestra.
Since the brass, wind, and percussion sections are one person per part providing limited seats and opportunities, there may be occasions where more qualifying musicians wish to join than seats available. The conductor will make final selection decisions for each section based on the needs of the orchestra. The MCO often needs substitute musicians to sit in during rehearsals in the absence of a MCO member.
